Jemima Benula, a renowned and radiant costume designer, has been a powerful creative presence in the film and television industry for over a decade. Born and raised in Chennai, her passion for fashion sparked early. As a young girl, Jemima would often personalize her outfits—adding subtle, artistic touches to elevate their charm. She had a natural eye for style and a desire to help others, often assisting people older than her with their clothing choices. These early instincts quietly laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in costume design.
Her professional journey began in 2013 at Puthiya Thalaimurai, where she first stepped into the world of media. From there, she moved on to become an anchor on Satyam TV, hosting audience favorites like Vidiyal Pudhesu and Pasanga. Her creative path later took her behind the camera at Vijay TV, where she served as an assistant director on the show Yes or No. It was during this time that her passion for costume design truly ignited, as she gained a deeper understanding of the visual storytelling required in television production.
Jemima’s entry into costume design wasn’t just a career shift—it was a calling. Despite the many challenges in the industry, particularly for women in behind-the-scenes roles, she forged ahead with confidence and creativity. She worked on notable projects such as the web series Kalyanam Conditions Apply 2.0 and the short film Kadhal Ondru Kanden, where her costumes helped bring characters to life with authenticity and flair.
Beyond entertainment, Jemima has always stood for something greater. She has actively participated in numerous shows centered around Women’s Day and women-centric themes, using her platform to celebrate and support women’s voices. A proud women’s rights activist, Jemima is known not only for her bold fashion sense but also for her bold stance on social issues. Her artistry reached new heights when she designed costumes for Mr. Naveen Kumar, CEO of Athveen Entertainment, for the MOONINREDS 2025 event. Her work turned heads and captivated hearts—praised for its elegance, imagination, and sheer beauty. It was a defining moment that further cemented her place as one of the most talented and visionary costume designers in the industry.
