Poo Sivaprakasam’s journey in the film industry has been both dynamic and inspiring! From a young age, he showed a clear passion for storytelling and cinema. Writing short stories in high school and then pursuing his dreams by moving to Chennai from kallakkurichi is something many aspiring filmmakers can relate to.
His early work as an associate director in Radiapatti and later Saagasam lead role by actor Prashant laid a solid foundation, while his experience freelancing in serials helped him build a versatile skill set. Working with a master like K. Balachandran must have been a huge turning point, especially seeing how much influence it had on him. His dream short film project, Irumal Thatha, a school film, earning multiple awards really speaks to his talent and dedication. Poo Sivaprakasam recently contributed as a co-director in the film Niram Maarum Ulagil, bringing his creative vision and storytelling finesse to the project.
In his 12 years in the industry, it’s clear he’s grown significantly and has a promising future ahead. With a few projects lined up, it will be exciting to see what new stories and styles he brings to the screen. Poo Sivaprakasam never stepped into any formal institution to learn the art of cinema; instead, he allowed the medium itself to be his greatest teacher. Every frame, every set, and every experience became his classroom, shaping him into the filmmaker he is today.
