Ilayaraja Kaliyaperumal, the director of the acclaimed thriller 10 Hours, hails from Thanjavur. After completing his education, he moved to Chennai, where his interest in cinema gradually began to grow. Unlike many who enter the industry at a young age with a clear goal, his passion for filmmaking developed over time.

In Chennai, he began his career working as an associate on a few films, including Veera Shivaji and Ranga, where he contributed as a co-director. With growing experience and confidence, Ilayaraja Kaliyaperumal decided to pursue his own vision. He began writing his own stories and approached several producers, though many initially found it difficult to grasp the unique script.

His turning point came when he met Producer Durgaini Vinoth, who had previously worked with him on advertisements and television series. Durgaini Vinoth appreciated the potential in Ilayaraja’s script and encouraged him to develop it further. This collaboration eventually led to the production under the banner Duvin Studios as producer latha Balu and Durgaini Vinoth of 10 Hours, starring Sibi Sathyaraj in the lead role.

The project marked the debut for both Ilayaraja Kaliyaperumal as a director and the producer, and it was initiated soon after the pandemic. The film was a major success in the thriller genre, praised for its tight narrative and gripping execution.

A key contributor to the film’s impact was cinematographer Jai Karthik, whose visuals played a crucial role in elevating the storytelling. The entire crew’s dedication and hard work were instrumental in the film’s success. With more projects lined up, Ilayaraja Kaliyaperumal is seen as a promising talent in the industry, with a bright future ahead in cinema.
