Rajavel is an emerging talent in the Tamil film industry, best known for his directorial debut Housemates, which received widespread acclaim. Born in Chennai, Rajavel had a nomadic childhood, frequently relocating due to his father’s job. These experiences broadened his perspective and subtly influenced his storytelling. From a young age, Rajavel was drawn to cinema. During his school days, he developed a deep interest in films, and by the time he reached college, he was certain that he wanted to pursue a career in the film industry. To further his ambitions, he enrolled in a film institute to study direction. He became a film watcher, learning the craft by observing and analysing various styles and techniques.
Rajavel began his career by creating short films, gradually building his experience and network. After years of perseverance, he landed an opportunity to work as an Assistant Director on the satirical film Tamizh Padam 2. He also contributed to the writing department of Demonte Colony 2, gaining valuable industry exposure.
Eventually, Rajavel began developing his own scripts. One of these was Housemates, a project that not only got greenlit but also marked his directorial debut. The film was a major success, establishing Rajavel as a promising new voice in Tamil cinema.
