Balaji – Director of Sattamum Neethiyum
Balaji, born in Trichy, comes from an engineering background. His passion for cinema began during his college days, where he actively made short films and explored storytelling. Even after completing his engineering degree and working as an engineer for some time, his interest in cinema never faded. Eventually, he quit his job to pursue filmmaking full-time.
Driven by determination, Balaji joined director BalajiKumar as a writer, contributing to various scripts—one among them was Kolai lead role done by Vijay Antony. He also worked as an associate director and played a role in crafting dialogues for the film. His journey continued as he joined director Ahmed as an associate director for the film Iraivan.
After the project, he took a short break. During the shoot of Madras Mystery, he met Mr. Surya Prathap, who was working on the script for a web series. Impressed by Balaji’s experience and creative clarity, he asked if Balaji would be interested in directing it. Balaji agreed, and that opportunity became his directorial debut—Sattamum Neethiyum.
The Zee5 web series turned out to be a major turning point, earning huge success and establishing Balaji as a promising new filmmaker. During our interaction with him, he shared his inspiring journey—from a Mechatronics engineer to the director of a hit web series. With his dedication, clarity, and creative vision, Balaji has the potential to reach even greater heights in cinema.
