Aravinnd Singh (Director of Photography)

Aravinnd Singh is a well-known cinematographer in the Tamil film industry. Born in Chennai, he completed his degree in Visual Communication at SRM University and later pursued advanced filmmaking at Whistling Woods International Film Institute, Mumbai. His strong academic performance earned him a six-month scholarship to continue his studies at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia.

His passion for cinema began during his school days. He was deeply fascinated by the visual storytelling of the iconic Tamil thriller serial “Marmadesam”, which sparked his early interest in Visual Arts. As the years passed, this interest grew stronger, eventually shaping his career path.

After completing his studies, Aravinnd Singh actively looked for opportunities in the film industry. He always dreamed of working with the legendary filmmaker ManiRatnam Sir. However destiny had something else, one of his HODs who was a friend of ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan sir recommended him and got an opportunity to assist ace DOP Santosh Sivan sir in films like Urumi and Thuppakki, that’s the time when the spark of cinematography hits Aravinnd Singh.

Aravinnd Singh made his debut as a cinematographer with Demonte Colony (2015), a film that became a huge success and earned him recognition across the industry. Since then, he has consistently delivered impressive visuals, proving why he is considered one of the prominent names in contemporary cinematography.

During our interaction with him, he shared many insights about his journey, his passion for visual storytelling, and his future goals. He is currently working on his directorial debut, for which he is also handling the cinematography.
