Arthi Ashwin, a rising star in the South Indian film industry, was born in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, a small town surrounded by lush green fields and rich cultural heritage. Although she comes from a non-cinema background and her life began far from the glittering lights of cinema, her journey to becoming an actress is purely the result of her passion, determination, and hard work
Growing up in a family of modest means, Arthi was fascinated by the magic of movies and spent hours watching films and television shows. Her dream was to become a singer, and she took the initiative to self-teach herself, developing her skills and perfecting her craft. However, her family perceived a singing career as unstable and encouraged her to pursue a degree in commerce instead. Unfortunately, the lack of support from her family led Arthi to abandon her singing aspirations, causing her to lose faith in herself. Nevertheless, she remained resolute in her passion, undeterred by her family’s concerns about the entertainment industry’s stability.
Unwavering in her pursuit, Arthi faced challenges head-on, seizing opportunities to audition for television reality shows during her college years. Her dedication led her to work as part of the direction team on reality shows with Jaya TV, and with a courageous heart, she even left a secure, well-paying job at a multinational company to fully embrace her passion. Arthi’s perseverance began to bear fruit as she ventured into modern theatre plays and started creating videos, slowly gaining experience in front of the camera.
Her big-screen debut came in the “Ruthrathaandavam” movie, directed by Mohan G, where she played the role of a reporter. It marked the beginning of her career in films and introduced her to the workings of the film industry. This experience helped her gain more confidence.
Her role in the upcoming movie “Sabdham,” directed by Arivazhagan, is one she believes will be a major breakthrough in her career. With confidence in her abilities and hard work, she is optimistic about what the future holds.
When asked about her personal life, Arthi passionately said, “Camera is my boyfriend; cinema is the love of my life. And it never ever gave up on me.” Her deep love for cinema is undeniable.
Arthi has established herself as a self-made actress. Her family, witnessing her unwavering dedication, determination, and unshakeable faith in cinema, now offers their wholehearted support and encouragement. Arthi’s talent and determination are not limited to Tamil cinema. She has expanded her reach into Telugu and Hindi films, demonstrating her versatility and range as an actress. To succeed in these industries, she took the initiative to learn both Telugu and Hindi, a testament to her commitment to her craft.
Her hard work paid off when she landed a role in the “Nadu Center” series, directed by Naru Narayanan and presented by Disney Hotstar. Currently, Arthi is working on an exciting project – a role in a film starring Actor Arulnithi, directed by Prabhu Jeyaram and produced by Passion Studios.
As she looks ahead to the future, Arthi remains grounded and grateful to her well-wishers, mentors, and friends who helped her during this entire journey. She is forever grateful to all the directors, technicians, and producers she has worked with. “We should believe that we deserve what we wish for,” Arthi says, emphasizing the importance of inner strength and perseverance in achieving one’s dreams.
From overcoming family opposition to finding her footing in the world of cinema, Arthi continues to grow as an actress, expanding her skills and breaking into new markets. With her talent, dedication, and belief in herself, Arthi is sure to shine even brighter in the years to come. We believe that cinema loves her back just as much as she loves it.
