Born and raised in Avadi, Chennai, Deepan’s early life was shaped by the
melodies of his surroundings and the influence of his mother, a dedicated school
teacher who instilled in him the value of hard work and education.

From a young age, Deepan exhibited an insatiable interest in music, often found
lost in melodies and lyrics that spoke to his soul.

Tragedy struck when Deepan
lost his father in his fifth standard. This profound loss could have derailed his
dreams, but instead, it fueled his determination to succeed. By the age of 14, he
began performing at music concerts, showcasing his talent and dedication to his
craft. Alongside his musical pursuits, he also offered music tuitions, demonstrating his commitment to education—a value he inherited from his
mother, who supported his passion diligently and was the backbone to accomplish his musical pursuit.

Deepan’s big break in the film industry came with the project Oru Kuppai Kadhai, where he composed music for the film featuring Dinesh Master in the lead role. Interestingly, Deepan had given the director a CD of his recordings a year prior, a
testament to the idea that in cinema, every small effort can lead to unexpected opportunities. This initial chance opened the door for his creativity to flourish, leading to subsequent projects like “En Aaloda Seruppa Kanom” and “Kaathadi”. Despite his growing success, Deepan faced significant challenges when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. After composing music for three films, he took a step back to support her during this difficult time, working with other music directors as a music producer for more than 50 projects across different
languages like “World Famous Lover”, “DrishyamTwo”, “Witness”, “Jathi Ratnalu”,
“Pulikuthi pandi”, “Yendaravadhu oru Naal”, “Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuththu 1&2”, and “Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal”. Adding on to the same, he has also worked
with renowned actor Silambarasan(STR) as a music producer. His collaboration
with renowned South Indian music directors further broadened his experience
and influence in the industry.

Despite all his efforts, he lost his mother too at the age of 26, after which he mustered all the courage to restart his musical journey as a composer. And the following significant list of movies such as “Varnashramam”, “Sathya Sothanai”,
“Konjam Pesinal Yenna” and “Veerayi Makkal” is a testimony to true grit to achieve his dreams. Recently, Deepan released an album song titled “Vennila Iravugal”, which garnered rave reviews and showcased his evolving artistry.

He believes that the magic of a song lies significantly in its lyrics, making him selective about the lyricists he
collaborates with. With nearly 13 years in the film industry, Deepan has not only composed music for films but also ventured into ad films, expanding his creative
horizons During these trying times, Deepan was grateful for the unwavering support of his
friends, who stood by him and offered encouragement. The camaraderie he shared with his peers became a source of strength, reinforcing his belief in the importance of community.

The passing of his mother in 2019 due to cancer was a profound loss, echoing
the pain. Yet, through these hardships, Deepan has emerged as a figure of
resilience, embodying confidence and courage. He often reflects on the gratitude
he feels toward the directors who chose him for their films, recognizing the significance of their faith in his abilities.
Currently, Deepan is busy composing for Parasivan Fathima featuring Vimal in the
lead role and yet other few untitled projects, continuing to weave his musical magic into the fabric of Tamil cinema. His journey serves as an inspiring reminder that with passion and perseverance, even the most challenging circumstances can lead to extraordinary creativity.
