Sundar –Director of Photography

Sundar is a rising force in cinematography — a passionate visual storyteller who has been steadily carving his path in the film industry with dedication, artistry, and vision. Born in Pondicherry, his fascination with cinema began in childhood, where stories on screen lit a spark that would grow into a lifelong pursuit. Among the many films that shaped his early love for the medium, Ayan left a lasting impression, igniting his desire to explore the world behind the lens.

During his college years, Sundar discovered his deep connection with photography. He roamed far and wide, capturing life in all its hues, learning not just to frame a picture, but to tell a story through it. Each click of the shutter became a lesson in observation, composition, and emotion — skills that would later define his visual language in cinema.

His professional journey began under the guidance of acclaimed cinematographer Ganesh Chandra, where Sundar honed his craft on notable projects such as:

  • Devadas Brothers
  • Yemakku Thozhil Romance
  • Jail
  • Mismatch (Telugu)
  • Kaari

Determined to evolve, Sundar later teamed up with celebrated cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman, serving as associate – DOP on successful films including:

  • Maharaja
  • Lubber Pandhu
  • Couple friendly (Telugu)
  • Court (Telugu)
  • Maaman
  • Nobody (Malayalam)

Their creative synergy continues to this day, with Sundar playing an integral role in Dinesh Purushothaman’s cinematography team. He has also stepped into the spotlight as Director of Photography for the film Ka Mu Ka Pi, showcasing his distinct style and storytelling finesse.

Even when faced with setbacks on certain independent projects, Sundar’s spirit has never wavered. Every challenge became a stepping stone, every pause an opportunity to sharpen his craft. His journey so far is a testament to perseverance, passion, and the belief that great stories are worth the wait.

With his relentless drive, expanding experience, and innate eye for cinematic beauty, Sundar is on the cusp of his breakthrough. The day is not far when his name will be etched in the credits as a lead cinematographer — crafting images that linger in the heart long after the lights go down.
