Bibin Krishna

Bibin Krishna – From Film Rolls to Filmmaker Dreams

In an industry where many wait years for a single breakthrough, Bibin Krishna carved his path with clarity, persistence, and an unwavering love for cinema. His journey—from a small-town theatre to directing successful films like Twenty One Grams and Sahasam—is not just inspiring, but deeply cinematic in itself.

Roots in Kerala, Raised by Cinema

Bibin hails from Kerala’s Kozhikode (Calicut) district.  But what truly shaped him wasn’t just the place—it was where he grew up. His family owned and operated the only theatre in his hometown. For most kids, outings meant parks or trips. For Bibin, it meant movies.

That theatre wasn’t just a building—it was his playground, classroom, and dream factory. He didn’t just watch films. He experienced them.

From handling film rolls to understanding projection, Bibin had a rare, wholesome exposure to cinema that most filmmakers only read about. That obsession with the big screen started early—and never left.

Engineering Mind, Artistic Soul

Like many Indian dreamers, Bibin followed a conventional academic path—engineering in Bangalore, followed by a Master’s degree. He stepped into the corporate world, working in life sciences and advanced medical devices across multiple companies. Eventually, he settled into a stable role at TCS. But cinema wasn’t a phase. It was a parallel life.

The Short Film Years

During his college days, Bibin Krishna began creating short films—experimenting, failing, learning, and winning awards along the way.

From 2014, his journey took him to Hyderabad, where he began focusing more seriously on storytelling. Between 2016 and 2018, while in Melbourne, he started writing what would become his first full-length feature script.

At that point, he had something powerful:

  • A strong story
  • A complete script
  • But no roadmap into the industry

So he did what true filmmakers do—he learned everything himself.

Back in Bangalore, Bibin Krishna picked up editing and colour grading. With limited resources, he created a pilot version of his film—just to prove the story could work on screen.

 Pandemic, Persistence & a Breakthrough

Then came COVID. While the world slowed down, Bibin’s story found momentum. In Kochi, he finally met a producer and got the chance he had been preparing for all these years.

One of the defining moments of his journey: Meeting actor Anoop Menon at Grand Hyatt Bolgatty—his first major industry interaction.

What followed was nothing short of intense:

  • Just 23 days of pre-production
  • A 34-day shoot schedule
  • A first-time director handling everything with self-taught knowledge

The result?

🎬 Twenty One Grams released—and became a superhit in Kerala theatres.

A thriller that proved Bibin wasn’t just passionate—he was ready.

Sahasam – Scaling Bigger, Going Lighter

After the success of his debut, Bibin didn’t play safe.

His second film, Sahasam, is a complete tonal shift—a comedy entertainer.

  • Shot in just 45 days
  • Featuring a larger ensemble cast including:
    • Ramzan Muhammed
    • Gouri G Kishan
    • Naren

From a tight thriller to a wide-scale comedy, Bibin showed versatility—a trait that separates filmmakers from storytellers.

The Mind-set That Defines Him

What makes Bibin Krishna stand out isn’t just his journey—it’s his clarity.

He knows:

  • What he wants
  • What he’s doing
  • And how to get there

Balancing a solid corporate career while directing films isn’t easy. But Bibin does it with discipline and focus, proving that passion doesn’t require you to quit everything—it requires you to commit fully.

Final Note

Bibin Krishna isn’t just a director who made it.
He’s a filmmaker shaped by real cinema experiences, built through self-learning, and driven by pure love for storytelling.

From watching film reels in a hometown theatre…
to creating films that fill theatres—

That’s not luck.
That’s Sahasam—a bold leap.
